Company of Heroes 3

I loves me some COH. COH3 is being developed and a pre-alpha preview is available on steam. Downloading now. You have to sign up on companyofheroes.com then link your steam account to dl

CoH2's menu labyrinth really turned me off.

Used to play 3pc vs 3ai w/ blitzkrieg mod, all the time on CoH.

This may have the name "Company of Heroes", but look what they did to "Dawn of War 3".

CoH2 makes me leery of what they plan for this third game. They broke the sequel into bits to meter out content through microtransactions and a stereotypical progression/grind system.

They did state their plan is to return to CoH 1... but, we'll see...

The trailers, even the "gameplay" trailer, doesn't reveal much of the actual gameplay under all of the fancy scripted cinematic bullshot

I tried it out last night. Its kind of hard to make a solid determination from it as it a pre-alpha. Still has lots of bugs. Overall graphics don't look bad, movement/menus are a little shitty but again, pre-alpha.

Releasing this at this point in development might do more harm than good

you can check out Day9 play through the "pre-alpha" (dumbest fucking term. Just call it an alpha.)

I thought the concept of CoH was neat back in 2006 or w/e it came out but it wasn't enough to make me want to play the game for any extended period of time.

I also don't feel it really did much for the genre as a whole and so CoH 3 just seems like a sequel to a long dead franchise that nobody asked for. I'm sure it'll get a lot of buzz upon release for a few days, and then everyone will fuck back off to whatever stupid BR game they play.

I have COH in steam, and COH legacy. I like the game, play it now and then, but not enough that i want to go buy a new one.
