This is easier said than done as "real" like "beautiful" is a bit in the eye of the beholder - or palate in this case. However...
Real/genuine vanilla for instance is IMHO a pod from the vanilla orchid. On the "false" or not-real side we have laboratory produced vanilla that has never even been in the same room as the vanilla orchid. This is but one example.
Soda/pop is another example. Are there really fruit juice or "aroma" in most sodas? My guess is aroma. Same goes for many other foods.
The 2022 price for fake food of the year in Sweden went to the major ice cream producer GB for their Big Pack vanilla ice cream. Ice cream is normally a dairy product, but GB replaced the milk/cream with water and protein made from peas. This information was in small print on the flip side of the carton. The front proudly said that the product now had a new more climate friendly recipe.
I have no idea what that brave new recipe tastes like and I'm not going to find out. I read ingredients lists carefully when I go grocery shopping.
