Likewise with the Rangers but that's a pipe-dream.
If I was Glen Sather this is what I would do.
A)Send Redden and Voros to Hartford, let the league know they can have him for straight garbage.
B)Resign the following players as long as we can agree on a good price. Make it top-heavy if need be. Cap hit needs to be low. Otherwise you are gone. Rangers can't afford over-priced players.
-Dubinsky (Anything above 2.5m, i wouldn't go threw with it)
-Callihan (Anything above 2m, i wouldn't go threw with it)
-Korpedo (Anything above 1.25m, i wouldn't go threw with it)
-Zherdev (Anything above 3.75m, i wouldn't go threw with it)
-Antropov (Anything above 3.75m, i wouldn't go threw with it)
-Betts (Anything above 1.5m, i wouldn't go threw with it) (He's probably gone)
-Moris (Anything above 3.5m, i wouldn't go threw with it)
C)Say Goodbye to Mara and Orr
Our Defensive Corp is as follows
Staal-Girardi
Morris-Rosival
Rookie-Rookie -> (Gilroy, Sanguetti, Potter, Del Zotto or (Free Agent?)
Scary 3rd D-line, hopefully they step it up big
Offense
Zherdev-Gomez-Avery
Dubinsky-Drury-Cally
Korpedo-Amsinov-Sjo
Call up-Betts-Free Agent
We have about 3m in free space assuming 4th line free agent costs up ~650k.
I like that line-up. Not exactly a Stanley cup team but we can make a splash at the trade deadline with the excess cap-hit space we have.
