Anyone know much about Iowa?

Yeah, and those guys are expert riders.

They're into the foundations around 4 minutes, but didn't do anything fun. We drop off the walls and get up and over the slabs.

I was commenting on the fact that there's not even a hill on the entire island. It's not even hill biking and a cross bike would probably be faster there.

Those dudes are noobs, but good for them being out there improving their skills and having fun. I like the orange on that bike. They have no helmets on? Is that common?

I haven't ridden for a year. Local trail washed out with excessive rain. Gave bike good clean and home service last week ready to ease my way back into it. Just waiting for local trail to dry out. We don't ride our trails wet cause soft shallow soils etc. Some parts are EEC and CEEC - that's greenie speak for holy precious forest that apparently can't handle a bicycle riding through it.. which is BS but that's what we are up against.

They call themselves beginners in the description of the video.

Older image but checks out. Hasn't changed. Might roll around out in the streets for a bit, she's all sparkling and ready for action. Early spring here wildflowers and stuff. Will be nice when the local trail opens again. Oh yah tires are now Maxxis Rekon. 3rd lightest big bag 2.6" tires wide I can find. Image is with the old tires.

Yah actually I wouldn't mind if it was a bit racier and less travel, but I'm not doing clown wheels or hardtails. I'm normally after super light dually. Next will be less travel and more race geometry.

FORC'en hell. All I'm seeing are lycra stravawhores. Nice fast flowy trail, some passing sections. Didn't see much technical section. He's doing 175 bpm for an hour... I set my alarm for 165 for weekend hacking but yah it shoots up in a race.. but I couldn't do 175 for that long I'd blow an O ring.

OMG, it's like a party in my mouth and everyone's invited.

Found this at an Amish bakery near Kalona Iowa. No electric lights inside, except what was probably a solar motion light in the bathroom. The interior lighting was from skylights, and a few scattered gas lamps that weren't lit when we were there.

This Amish thing is intriguing.

Do the Amish ride mountain bikes?

What do they smell like?

I'd be so tempted to rip off my shirt and do a bit of accidently flexing in front of some Amish woman. Maybe shove some socks down my shorts. Do people do that? Oh shit my shirt broke, I better take it off. Ahh I need to stretch a bit I'm so tired.

If you brought a generator and your PC on the back of a truck and arrived in their compound/fortification/cave/tent and turned your PC on would they freak?

Quite a few leave the colony and spend time with normies then return before they are baptized into the Amish faith. They call it Rumspringa.

Amish Mennonites have electricity and motorized vehicles, while the Old Amish live like its 1400.

I 'researched' them on the internet. Some regions seem to vary a lot from another region. Stories about some ride bicycles, some only allow scooters, some neither etc.

Rumspringa is an interesting concept. I've spoken to Jehovah Witnesses (or were they Mormons, or is that the same I dunno) and they explained how when they are about 17 or so they are cast into the public world to go and spend 2 years spreading the word. Their parents pay for it I think they said. It was a pretty cool concept the way he explained it. They're always so well presented with tidy hair and clothes. Well spoken etc. Pairs of males. I don't know what the females do.

The woman in the video has lipstick on. They can do that?

lol @ video

One of the yt comments sums it up "Mr Dykk trying his darndest not not look at Katie's box. Tough work."

They're preserving their culture I can respect that

Had a pair of teen age girls doing their mission work, so I guess the women do it too. All the other times it was pairs of guys. Black pants, white shirt and dark tie. Little name badges.

We got them to come around the neighborhood 1-2 a year, but only because there was one of their churches nearby.

I'd say the girls were smoking hot, but on here I'd be labelled a pedo, so instead I'll say they were neatly dressed.
