arsin pretending like defense costs are proportionate per household.
Reality, 2% of the population pays for 40% of it.

Sure I do, I work from guberment contracts (can you say 10x longer than they need to be) all the time.
You don't seem to appreciate how expensive each one of these created jobs is. And I guarantee you by building 72,000 homes you will create many, many more jobs, but maybe reduce house prices - which puts more disposable income into everyone's pocket.
But no, why build 72,000 homes when you can build one aircraft carrier?

People always want to ***** about the military industrial complex, but it provides jobs to millions of people, good paying jobs they wouldn't have otherwise.

This is the worst argument imaginable for having the military that we do. It excludes the possibility that those people could have done something else that isn't about killing people and dominating the world. Try to fathom what $700B could do if it were instead invested into scientific advancement.

The military has advanced science farther than any other organization in history.
War has been the catalyst for advancements in our civilization, to say otherwise would be a complete and utter lie.
You know that little thing called the internet?
Oops.

If that one isn't good enough for you, how about, canned food, anti-biotics, microwave, nuclear power, and even ****ing tampons.
In conclusion, the military does more than just killing people. Competition breeds innovation, and there's nothing more competitive than war.

Yes, having a significant portion of the GDP of the nation with the highest GDP being directed to the military over the last century has resulted in a lot of scientific advancement.

ya know, let our adversaries spending massive portions of their defense budgets dealing with the carrier threat while we never intend to use them in hot conflicts with actors near their coastlines.

There's a ton of waste in the military that should be fixed. But saying the military doesn't serve a purpose or hasn't contributed to science over the last 100 years is being dishonest. Government contracts are out of control, and it's mostly because of the bureaucratic government.

Outside of China/Russia who would be able to threaten a carrier? If we go to war with China/Russia I wouldn't expect carriers to matter, because we'd all be dead.

Much like socialism.

You're contradicting yourself.
Fallacy - a mistaken belief, especially one based on unsound argument.
You're calling the sky blue. Yea, you get some jobs from building **** that ****-smashing other countries and continuing to destabilize the Middle East. You could also get many many jobs by focusing on fixing our roads, providing for the thousands of already homeless and hurting veterans in our country, fixing a broken healthcare system, and many many other things.
