I've been using a superior layout since I started gaming. I chose where I wanted my fingers before I assigned the keys.

Mouse 1: Forward
Mouse 2: Backward

D: Strafe left
F: Strafe Right
Shift: Fire
Z: Alt Fire

Those are the basics. Try it out on your own keyboard. The hand position is very natural, and it's easy to reach the keys surrounding D and F for any other commands you will need.

WASD forces your hand to be at a rigid perpendicular angle to the keyboard and you have to awkwardly draw your fingers in to rest on the keys. You also have to move a finger just to move backwards. It's very uncomfortable and very inefficient.

I don't play computer games, but it sounds like you're all for having a limp wrist.

So your trigger finger is your pinky? How do you play FPS's like that?

Have you ever made a single headshot?

for tribes i always used the arrow keys. I changed to WASD for BF2 and havent looked back.

Someone back in the day used a joystick in tribes. Saw it at UVA3. ****ing weird.

Only gays deviate from the superiority of WASD.

Which explains why this is a Reggs thread.

There's a picture of some dude playing Tribes at a lan with a trackball and joystick. Pretty rad setup.

I've used both WASD and ESDF, I like ESDF more but it's really annoying to rebind every single game I play so I usually just use WASD now.

mine is pretty f'ed

Right click: Forward
Left click: Fire
Jump: /
Jet (tribes): Rshift
Back: Down arrow
Strafe: < and >
Alt fire: ; or ' (depending on game)
Use: P
Crouch: L
Prone: Rcontrol

My friend used controls like this when he introduced me to Tribes. It has stuck ever since, even though I kinda wish I used WASD now.
