I don't think we just necessarily lower spending to match other countries to be 'fair'.
Luckily they seem to go largest to smallest.

The dollar will crash. People just dont want to see it.
Our huge deficits with china are killing this country. Americans are in so much debt. Plus they are printing to money and its terrible inflation.
I dont know if most people in here are stupid enough to think that the dollar will not crash, or they are trolling Oribital but if anyone thinks that our dollar is not gonna crash or come damn close to it needs to start reading some.

Oh, and yeah, I was also surprised at the amount spent on welfare. Makes you wonder what percentage of recipients are just lazy as opposed to having a real disability.

The UK has way more household debt than the US. Where is everyone saying that the Pound is going to collapse?
Everyone swears that teh dollar is going to collapse due to things that are common throughout the western world (debt, fiat money, government deficits, trade balance, etc...). Why don't they predict the impending doom of every other advanced country?
For orbitals benefit: Canada has a Central bank w/ fiat money, it has more debt than the US, its economy is currently in worse shape (it contracted during q1 while the US's still grew). why aren't you worried more about Canada than the US?

er.. did you write that and not grasp it? The U.S has had a bit of a dip this year. I doubt anyone would disagree with that. Canada has had a dive. They do like 75% of their trading with the U.S. When the U.S sneezes canada catches aids. That is why we have so many orby threads.

he never poses the threads as worried about them affecting canada. he always just poses them as "omg the US is doomed". He never mentions that every western country has the same (or usually worse) problems. I just think it is disingenuous to pretend that the US is uniquely troubled or that it will do worse than other countries.
i think that its fairly safe to say that the U.S is presently more messed up then normal. Both normal for it, and for other countries. Not that it is the worst off of all countries, but it going arse over has a pretty huge effect. Hence the media coverage around the world and within the U.S on the issue.
Orby probably doesn't admit it for a combo of 2 reasons. 1) He doesn't like to admit it. 2) Its largely implicit as he is canadian that they are reliant on you guys. Its like the giant pink elephant in the room that no one mentions.
