The Earth hasn't stopped shifting since the original event. Nobody knows what will happen next. I don't need a government official to tell me that I should be on "high-alert". I am carrying my passport and all my essentials on me at all times in case the **** hits the fan. I was told today by my Japanese friends to expect activity for the next month. Everyone bought out all the convenience stores yesterday and there are very very few people on the streets here. Everyone has shacked up and are trying to conserve electricity. My school is closed tomorrow. My boss says it is to conserve energy, but I feel that he has many reasons to keep the office closed for now. Are you not feeling tremors non-stop over in Tokyo? |

Seriously it's like everyone here is actively trying to not understand how nuclear power plants work.
|
i certainly am
i hate knowing information |
Not everyone here has a Full Sail Nuclear Engineering degree
|
what is this nuclear engineering of which you speak
hang on i don't want to know anything about it in fact i would appreciate it if you would post misinformation to faciliate my active pursuit of ignorance on the topic |
I've decided your right. Going out to spend all my savings on hookers and blow. BRB.

The funny thing was when I went to the convenience store to get some items, most of the shelves were full or normal, but the snack section was nearly empty.
Yeah, you need Twix and chewy candy to get through disasters. L. Spiro |

I don’t need to be told to be on high alert, but I want to know if something particularly strange happened, or if they just got readings that indicate a major quake will soon happen in my area. Quote:

Great, the advancement of nuclear power is going to be set back decades.

Holy **** this is the most intense video I've seen yet:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aY28GW1L-dA&NR I wonder what happened to those poor souls driving around in the video. I really feel bad for Japan right now. On the bright side it could've been much worse considering. Who knows, maybe this will help boost their economy and create jobs in the long run. If there's any country that can pull though it's Japan. |

I am 200 miles away (262 km) from the plant and I am not even slightly afraid. I think it is enough distance and nothing will really happen. The media sensationalizes so much that I just can't buy into it. After once witnessing a Japanese man on some kind of elevator lift attached to a truck, fixing a power-line in the middle of a roaring typhoon 3 years ago, I have gained a lot of faith in their ability to handle things in crisis situations. What I am afraid of is getting slammed with another huge quake here in the Tokyo area. |
|
yeah i dont think having a city, nuclear reactors, and multiple large towns destroyed is going to help their economy

Good god. Watch those cars near the very end when they cut away. There is a dude that turned around and is trying to drive away... He was just about to get swept away.

Personally i think the anti-nuclear movement have made the probability of a disaster or meltdown increase. Somehow i think plants built now are far safer then ones build in the 70s. But no lets just let those plants get older instead of building safer and more productive ones, cause nuclear power is scary ooOOOooo...

Some one catch me up on this.
Did the nuke plants get ****ed? Any rad leaks? IS NIMBY GOING TO RUIN AMERICA AGAIN WITH A NEW GENERATION OF MORANS |

1739: More from that unidentified official at Japan's Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency on rating the incident at the Fukushima nuclear plant on the IAEA scale of 0-7: "Right now we are considering the accident should be rated four. The rating may be changed in accordance with the development of the condition."
Three Mile Island was a 5. Chernobyl was a 7 The top government spokesman said TEPCO has begun new cooling operations to fill the reactor with sea water and pour in boric acid to prevent an occurrence of criticality, noting it may take several hours to inject water into the reactor. In addition, it will take about 10 days to fill the container with sea water, he said. There is a great possibility that the reactor will be decommissioned as the injection of sea water containing salt and impure substances will make it difficult to operate it safely again, experts say. |
