or the ones screaming on TV that everything is fine and nuclear power is completely safe and radiation is good for you?(pro-nuclear power) |

just like whenever they bring on someone to talk economics, they aren't economics experts either. anyone who's taken a basic econ class can tell that they have no idea what they're talking about. the same can be said about the 'nuclear experts' they've been having on. i watched one debate where the woman (anti-nuclear power) was an 'expert' because she decided to start reporting on nuclear news 5 years ago. thats the qualifications they're using. i can't believe i have to explain this to you. i didn't realize you were this dumb |

now compare it to the reaction at the time. that was my point. you have no point. we'll know once this is contained and stopped, and experts have time to evaluate and then appropriately relay the information, what the impact is going to be. but please, continue with your alarmist tendencies in the mean time. |
Quote:
yes, we should all sit around and wait until the event is over until we figure out if it's serious or not. Dumbass. |
why are you so offended about people making over-reactive posts on the internet it's not anything said here has any effect on the disaster we get it, you're too cool to even freak out in a forum post shut the **** up already |
Quote:
or you could be level headed about it, and wait to hear what the experts thing. but thats fine, continue your alarmism. :bigthumb: |

Fukushima Nuclear Accident Update Log Overall at the Fukushima Daiichi plant, the situation remains very serious. |
yes because people often post laughing smiley faces in posts they are crying about
toooo coooooooll |

 AND you took the time to neg-rep me about it
|

takes you way more time to check your rep, than for me to neg rep you. so what does that say? you check your rep quite often i guess? |
nah, I was just curious if you'd be that hilariously lame
ok, I'll go cry in the corner now and step out your way mr. cool |
sounds good.
i'm outa here. the ovechkin dance has sealed the deal, and i must head out. enjoy your over-reaction to the nuclear disaster in japan. |
Detox is an expert at analyzing an experts analysis on the nuclear core.
Jesus dudes. Don't argue with him or he will ****ing neg you brolies |
Separately, Tepco, as the utility is known, said it had discovered the bodies of two workers who have been missing since a March 11 earthquake and tsunami hit Fukushima Daiichi, crippling its back-up systems.

Unfortunately, I cannot find any reliable information the radiation levels of the smoke produced from Chernobyl, but I did find levels of water in areas not directly exposed to the reactor there to be at the same level that is now spilling into the sea in Fukushima Dai-Ichi. Granted that its not atmospheric, so the effects will not be as massively direct and traceable, it is still enough to spread into the oceans and become a serious concern, if not a major for the US, then certainly for a great many people on the SE Asian coasts and Pacific Islands and Coastlands. In these areas, the radiation will be a far greater concern for marine life harvested than mercury ever has been. |

not serious at all

tunas routinely travel 5000-6000 miles... it's in the food chain already and will continue to be so... this is everyone on earths problem now...

holy **** mjoe, is that really a picture of the leak?
somebody should bottle that stuff and market it as holy water. |

So thats coming out of the suppression pool? reactor containment? or what?

They think it came out of reactor #2 itself. CNN has more pics in their story: http://www.cnn.com/2011/WORLD/asiapc...ex.html?hpt=T2 |
Well that's not working either. (they should probably try golfballs and rubber eh!?)
The workers poured a chemical compound mixed with sawdust and newspaper into the crack, hoping it would expand and stick. But so far it has not done the trick, officials with Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) said. The effort followed an attempt Saturday to use concrete to plug the the 2-meter-deep (6.5-foot-deep), concrete-lined basin, where authorities had found water gushing directly into the sea via a roughly 20-centimeter (8-inch) crack. *Asked about the radiation levels in the shaft on Sunday, TEPCO executive Junichi Matsumoto told reporters that it could not yet be determined, because the devices officials were using, dosimeters, do not measure higher than 1,000 millisieverts per hour. |
Thats a tough one, there aren't too many ways to seal up something thats leaking at like 300+ gallons per minute besides a mechanical plug, I wonder if molten metal injected into the outlet would do the trick.
|
|
So the dosimeters are off the charts.
Splendid. I'm willing to bet when the finally get dosimeters that measure beyond |

It's probably around 2-6 sv as reported the amount that those 2 guys got on their feet when standing in the water. |

I blame it on the pain killers. I redact my previous statements. |
New:
Kyodo News reported Monday that the government told TEPCO to consider covering the plant's reactor buildings with special sheets. Nuclear specialists opposed the idea, arguing that the impact such shields would have on the spread of radiation from the plant would be minimal, according to the news agency. A government official also opposed to the proposal criticized it as a quick way to provide the Japanese people with a false sense of security, Kyodo News reported. The cost of manufacturing the barriers would be 80 billion yen, nearly $1 billion in U.S. dollars, according to the news service. |
You guys are still on this?

They wanna pour the already contained water into the sea, so that they can store even more contained water in their containers.
