Wow, a USGS sensor about 40 miles from me sensed it according to the local TV weather man.

Silly boats, you don't belong on land in the city, you belong in the water, you are boats!

I was working in the office when the first 8.9 hit.
The office started shaking, then more, then more.
Until we had to leave.

When I got to the stairs I looked down the road and every building was rocking a different direction and every window was reflecting a different way. We decided to go down the 7 floors quickly.


On the streets a lot of people were standing looking at the buildings swaying.
I lead my team first to the most open road in the area, then to the lowest buildings, and then from there to an open park.


After the first wave mostly died down my coworker wanted to go back and get his phone from the office.
I told him to wait a least 10 or 20 minutes after everything seemed calm, and I was right.
Just then the second 6.5 earthquake hit right next to Tokyo.


Even from the ground the rumbling was pretty massive.
A building at the border of the park started making loud noises. People started running away from it and screaming and crying. Some foreigners crossed their hearts (Christians).



A building in my area caught on fire, and even now, hours later, our office is shaking fairly

Uh no he's not. Pretty sure he ran out of money and came home awhile ago. A couple of his nip friends apparently were sleeping all day though so clearly this is no big deal. In fact, it's such not a big deal that LGBR is going to post 10 or 20 more times about how small of a deal it is. I want to blame our treatment of the earth over the last 200 years, but this is some tectonic **** that has nothing to with us. **** man.

but seriously, we have ****ed everything up. I know all of you are aware that we're polluting the planet, but seriously it's worse than you think. Like **** that used to help us now might be our worst problem.

Two injured at a Tokyo outlet of U.S. wholesale store Costoco due to the collapse of slope of car parking.

Four houses have caught fire in the Tokyo Adachi ward, burning down the floor area of 200 square meters.

Land liquefaction is detected in the water front area in Chiba.

25 injured***8212;5 of them seriously injured***8212;due to a collapse of the ceiling of the Tokyo Kudan Kaikan, where 600 people were gathering for a college graduation party.

Looks like natural gas storage, they've said its at an oil refinery

not bad for one of the most densely populated areas on earth

This is basically exactly what happened in my office as well.
But we evacuated instead of filming it.

Some of the aftershocks (like the one when I was posting before) are nearly as strong.
Junk is everywhere in my office. I’m not going to clean up this mess.

LGBR is correct in that the nips deal with these things all the time. They constantly run earthquake/tsunami drills around the place. Not to mention the culture there isn't one to running around screaming during a disaster. Unless the disaster is godzilla of course.
