*France evacuating citizens via Air France or telling them to head south. *France saying Japan is covering up how serious the situation is. *IAEA chief Yukiya Amano headed to Japan to get information on the "very serious" situation *US Forces are not allowed to come within 50 miles of the reactor via Pentagon orders *US UAV going to get a better look at the reactor. (infared imaging, etc) *Attempt to use helicopters to pour water on reactors failed after radiation levels became too high TEPCO not really knowing what's going on, giving conflicting information, saying they don't know. |
Breaking news!
People in LA have started to die from acute radiation posioning. The media is NOT covering this http://www.arabianbusiness.com/incom...tsunami+12.jpg |

O ****
The U.S. NRC chairman tells Congress the NRC would recommend an evacuation area much larger than has taken place around Japan's reactors More comments from the NRC chair, says spent fuel pool at Reactor 4 has no water, radiation levels are "extremely high" More comments from the NRC Chairman, who says high radiation levels at reactor 4 may affect the ability to "take corrective measures" |
ohh fuuuck

godzrilla is coming
|
The AP news agency is quoting Tepco as saying a new power line is almost ready which could end the crisis. The disruption of power to the pumps which send coolant through the reactors is what led to their overheating.
errthing a-ok! |
that would be awesome
otherwise they're going to have to activate yoshimi |
they should bring in gadzooki
|
need UAV helicopters to deliver the water. only risk is that the radiation may make them self aware.
skynet begins. |
UK tells it's citizens to consider evacuation if they live in Tokyo and farther north.

In the old days if there was a leak in your radiator water you could drop an egg in. The egg would gum up the hole and cook just enough to solidify and plug the leak. Therefore they should drop millions of eggs into the reactors. |

More from NRC chair Gregory Jaczko. He told Congress: "We believe that secondary containment has been destroyed and there is no water in the spent fuel pool and we believe that radiation levels are extremely high which could possibly impact the ability to take corrective measures." |

I can't imagine monitoring this situation at the detail level some of you do.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fukushi...ar_Power_Plant The reactors for Units 1, 2, and 6 were supplied by General Electric, those for Units 3 and 5 by Toshiba, and Unit 4 by Hitachi. All six reactors were designed by General Electric.[2] Architectural design for General Electric's units was done by Ebasco. All construction was done by Kajima.[3] |
viva la us design!

This is for anyone....... Have you found any information on the spent fuel pools? Are they contained or open? Also, are all of reactors connected together in some way? I read they were using #6 generator to put water into #5. I'm curious how #4 water boiled off so quickly, I've read several things that suggested it would take days or weeks to boil it off but the US NRC chair said he thinks it's dry. |

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The chief of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission says all the water is gone from one of the spent fuel pools at Japan's most troubled nuclear plant. This means there's nothing to stop the fuel rods from getting hotter and ultimately melting down. The outer shell of the rods could also ignite with enough force to propel the radioactive fuel inside over a wide area. Gregory Jaczko did not say Wednesday how the information was obtained, but the NRC and U.S. Department of Energy both have experts on site at the Fukushima Dai-ichi complex of six reactors. He says officials believe radiation levels are extremely high, and that could affect workers' ability to stop temperatures from escalating. |

"Pool stores 514 spent fuel rods at Fukushima No.3 reactor: TEPCO" That is a big problem with nuclear power, storage for the spent fuel rods. |

Then comparing how reactor #3 is (on the left) http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2011/...00_964x703.jpg That's probably not good. |

The secondary containment appears to keep radiation in if it catches fire. Obviously thats no good now due to the hydrogen blast.
