In Tribes it was only good for going back to your base though. In EVE it's good for going forward too.

Jumpclones have a "once every 24 hours" limitation on them, which nerfs their usefulness for making there-and-back again trips. In addition, you have to had already been at the destination to have a jumpclone there (meaning you can't just pick a spot and go).
