how can i change terrain horizontally?
I want to create an overhang or tunnel or bridge, can this be done using terrain? Or do I need to edit out a spere or cube?
Yes I'm a newb

so......

I can do this | |
I want this \/

oh yeah , this is in tved, :p

go into the terrain browser and select painting. hold control and left/right click to add/subrtract terrain. i suggest you watch santa's tutorial (and bump it to the top of the forums, for that matter) because it is very useful and very well done.

<3 santa

You can't create overhangs using terrain. Terrain is a heightfield using a greyscale bitmap with dark colours representing low areas, and light colours representing high areas. There's no way to create an overhang with a single terrain.

However... :)

You can have two terrains, one flipped on top of the other, to form a cave-like environment. This is VERY CPU-intensive so any terrains like this should be made as small as possible.

bah, thx ant
can you rotate only 90 degrees as well?
Oh and how did you guys do it on winter lake ?
Are they just models shaped like rock stuck into terrain?

Can I add a very small terrain ( like size of a rock )? rotate 90 degrees
And if so, how would this effect the cpu?

The rocks on Winterlake are indeed static mesh.

Yes, those are static meshes. Have a look at the meshes in the wastelands package.

I don't think you can have a sideways terrain, but I'm not sure. You're far better off designing a custom static mesh and using that instead.
