how much foliage can the vengeance engine handle?

what i'm interested in is how would i model a lot of wash foliage, stuff that you can fly through but still look like a tree. for instance, i'm thinking of making a map where the tree foliage are as big as the standard pheonix ball base, and about 2-4 times the height...

Just make the model in max without a collision mesh.
