Thrax mentioned something about prefering the IFF to be differnt shapes according to the team (for color blind people), so my guess is that they're still working on what to do for them.

We're working on new technology that measures the force you press keys with and allows us to determine your current frame of mind. The IFFs will change color with your temperament. Mood IFFs.

That would be awesome though, if clans were linked to some form of database where you could upload your logo in IFF form, and then when you play on a server linked to that database everyone will see your clan IFF over your head. Logos could require validation by the admins of the database to prevent porn or goatse.
