Forums

On the forums TheSpirit generally submits useful replies to special interest topics such as video game information, military threads, and a variety of other rarer themes. More often than not, he can be found posting useless drivel or inciting or spurring on an argument for the benefit of entertaining himself and other watchers, but never to the extent that it gets noticed as a consistency of character by anyone.

Tribes 1

TheSpirit got his start in the Tribes world here with Tribes 1. One day during middle school on the bus ride there he was told about a new game his friend had where you could go to capture the enemy's flag and 'play dead' inside their base until nobody was around.

Intrigued, TheSpirit decided to go purchase this game and attempt to accomplish what he was told about. He was never able to find the play dead button until later in a mod he wrote.

As he got into the game, however, he daily enjoyed a round of killing, jetting, capping, and more killing on some of the various maps like Riverdance, Broadside, Dangerous Crossing, and Snowblind.

TheSpirit was not in any competitive tribes in Tribes 1, but this experience set the stage for his move into Tribes 2 - a move which didn't take his focus off of Tribes 1, however, since the prequel offered such amusing variants as Renegade, where TheSpirit opted to construct a house on Broadside out of the rather expanded Renegade construction packs, Construction Mod, and RPG.

Tribes 2

TheSpirit was a Light Defender for a number of tribes: Riven -)R(-, rage clan rage|, and Sapphire Blade (S|B). At times he also capped. Being a versatile player, he could perform in a pinch in any position from Heavy Defense to Farmer, but his skill with the Laser Rifle and ability to maneuver with the light armor made him a more effective Light Defender.

His most memorable match was Riven vs The Ministry where Riven pulled it out in the last 4 seconds of the third map. Both teams played with great cohesion, teamwork, and respect.

TheSpirit was also one of the progenitors of Pirates of the Caribbean PotC, a mod in T2 that used mortars and heavy transports to simulate pirate battles.

Tribes: Vengeance

TheSpirit went to TribalWars: East and received the beta disc of Tribes: Vengeance. Like many of the attendees there, he had to conquer difficulties in installing the game, go through an update patch, and then undergo the pain of discovering that the game was, in fact, gay.

Real World

College

TheSpirit is more or less a spontaneous (and still somehow boring) guy. He is an English major at Texas State University - San Marcos and a member of the Army ROTC.
