About

Founded by ObsidianBlue (SlapStick) and Mobbstah (SadiStick) in late 1999, the original Sticks roster was comprised primarily of former members of Crimson Knights, as well as alumni of the Atomic Punks and High Tolerance. The two leaders decided on the unusual naming scheme for the new team because it was both amusing and somewhat mysterious, calling to mind the uncertainty and paranoia early teams felt when competing against players from Western Alliance (who pioneered the "smurf team" by eschewing traditional clan tags in favor of their "City, State" format for player names). The Sticks quickly made their way up the OGL ladder and were regarded as one of the top teams during the game's most competitive period from 2000-01.

The team eventually inherited the #1 rung on OGL after 5150's retirement in September of 2000 and held it for some months thereafter, until their own retirement in early 2001 with a final OGL record of 36-6. The Sticks were known for their improbable come-from-behind play, holding many victories due to last second caps or forced overtimes. This exciting playstyle made them one of the most featured teams during the early days of Tribes shoutcasting. Notable games with 5150, IE, NuTz, S3, Team Fusion and Doctors.
