NOVALAN
From TribalWar
The history of NOVALAN can be traced back to Fall of 2000, shortly after the highly-successful LAN party,
UVALAN 2 in Charlottesville, Va.
Not content to wait another year for some hard-hitting LAN action, several Tribes players in the Northern
Virginia area arranged a meeting that August, and the idea for NOVALAN was born. Coordinated in an
amazingly short amount of time by the efficient staff, the three-day LAN took place two months later in
Fairfax, Va., and was hailed by all of the attendees – some who traveled cross-country to attend – as a
great success.
Tribe NOVA became more closely affiliated with the Wayside Events staff, and helped to plan, coordinate
and setup UVALAN 3, which was the first UVALAN to be held in Chantilly, Va., just a few miles from the
location of the original NOVALAN.
During and after UVALAN 3, plans for another LAN hosted by the Northern Virginia crew were discussed, and
the result was the amazingly high-energy event, NOVALAN 2, held in November 2001.
