Happy Mod

Happy Mod was developed by HaPpY and is one of the most damaging cheats created for Tribes 1. There were actually two different versions released, one before the 1.11 Tribes patch and one after. While Version 1 fell out of use due to Glide support being dropped for most video cards, Version 2 is still in use today and even endorsed by communities such as Spawn Renegades, where it is not considered a cheat.

Version 1

Happy Mod Glide2x.dll Console

Happy Mod v1 consisted of model replacements and a hacked Glide graphics driver. The model replacements included Happy Flag, mines, and deployable pulse sensors and inventory stations, i.e. items that would be useful if you could notice them at a distance[1].

The hacked Glide driver, glide2x.dll, was even more damaging, consisting of No Fog, permanent flag and player indicators which displayed through hills and walls, colored chain tracers, custom reticles, and a primitive aimbot.

Version 2

Happy Mod 2.1 Console

Happy Mod v2 was released after the Tribes 1.11 patch which was supposed to fix existing cheats. It included the models from the first version, but replaced glide2x.dll with hm.exe, a graphics driver agnostic cheat which consisted of No Fog, permanent player indicators, and a model CRC crack so the old Happy Mod models could still be used with the 1.11 patch.

Where the glide2x.dll no fog literally removed all fog (making distances somewhat difficult to judge), hm.exe no fog merely extended the fog back a customizable distance resulting in increased view distance without impacting playability.
