In Tribes, a route can refer to almost any course taken by a player using skiing to rapidly build and sustain horizontal velocity.
In general use, routes are usually pre-planned -- a known path which, if executed correctly, can allow players to attain enormous speeds along those routes. The most obvious benefit can be seen in cap routes, which are a route that can allow a player to build momentum, pass directly over the flag stand to grab the flag at high speed, and (often) continue at this high speed along the rest of the route to return home. Any flag grab not obtained from a cap route is called a llama grab.
