Net Neutrality: Attorney Generals from 22 states appeal FCC's repeal

Submitted by: Amadeus @ 01:17 PM | Wednesday, January 17, 2018 | (url: https://www.youtu...)

Leonard French, your facourite copyright attorney, explains all the juicy legal details.

Basically, their argument is that the FCC is part of the administrative branch and as such doesn't get to just make new shit up, that's what Congress is for.

oh fuck yeah that's irritating as shit

between "like" and "literally" i am trying to remove both from my personal vocabulary

Literally is literally awesome. Its the lefts go-to word for literally anything that is something that someone who is familiar to the way Hilter thought, thinks Trump is thinking. News at 11.

i once had a boss who could never... basically, he would start a sentence, and... it was really annoying, because each time he... what he'd do is keep rephrasing the same... he never got anywhere because every time...

Not all forms of "government intervening with private companies" are equal.

Net neutrality is about government not letting private companies use their position of power to extort money from their customers and other, unaffiliated private companies. Which I think we can all agree is a good thing.

I have had to change my opinion on net neutrality, at least on the 2015 US legislation. It doesn't actually accomplish anything that the champions of it say it does. It *might* hinder R&D into things to make the internet work better. Unfortunately anti-trust cases may have to just handle the outlying abuses.

the internet needs to be open and free so that twitter, facebook and youtube can continue to tell me how to think

Without net neutrality regulations what is to stop my only ISP option from charging me or the controllers of the content I view more money?

Hey look, i am quoting myself.

Lets take a look at what i am talking about.

Here is a list of some of Americas largest ISP's and the largest shareholders:
Comcast: Blackrock, Vanguard, Capital World Investments & State Street
Verizon: Vanguard, Blackrock, State Street & Capital Research
AT&T: Vanguard, Blackrock, State Street & Evercore

Here is a list of some of Americas largest internet sites and the largest shareholders:
Facebook: Vanguard, Blackrock, FMR & State Street
Alphabet (YouTube): Vanguard, Blackrock, FMR & State Street
NetFlix: Capital Research, Vanguard, Blackrock & FMR

And we have people literally cheerleading for one group of corporations over another and either way it works out, we lose, and the mega financial firms win. They set the policy and whichever way they can make the most money is what gets passed by our government.

oh god did you say literally

stop it

we need word neutrality online now

HAHA! Fuck...

all this as youtube suddenly demonetizes content providers who don't get over 4000 hours of viewership every month

LOLOLOLOLO
01-17-18 - 05:34 PM
I'm pretty sure it was just 4,000 hours in total

that would make more sense

i barely read the headline

i just see their overall objective very clearly
01-17-18 - 05:44 PM
if their objective hadn't been plain as day prior to this it probably would be seen as pretty reasonable given the actual abuse. unfortunately anything a pubic hair's width right of extreme left is autodemonetized as it is
