Review: AMD HD 5850

Submitted by: Beren @ 07:43 AM | Thursday, October 1, 2009 | (url: http://www.hardoc...)

As a very happy owner of a 4850 from the last gen I am obviously very interested in the 5850. Looking at the specs the 5850 look to be even closer to the 5870 then the 4850 was to the 4870. So anyone looking for a midrange part to kick some serious arse this is the ticket.

yeah as were the 4850 and 4870. Not sure if the 4890 was any smaller with it coming out like 6 months after the other two.

I am aware of that but doing another burst on some news action. The fact that these weren't submitted to the front page yesterday is a crime.. in a nerdy way.

I've got a 4830 and it's not huge so I guess the lower end of the 4800s were quite smaller. Both height and length.

Well it was also released a while later too. The 4850 and 4870 were the launch models.

The 46XX ones are the ones you expect to be really small. 4830 still seems pretty sizeable.

My 4850 doesn't fit in another guys case we tried at a lan. PC problems, went to try a diff card. i.e mine. And the bastard didn't even fit in there let alone sort out his issue. Heh.

I take it it was impossible to consolidate the two threads?
