Mechwarrior 4 + expansions free distribution coming

In honor of BattleTech's 25th anniversary, Smith & Tinker has authorized MekTek.net and MekTek Studios to distribute MechWarrior 4 (along with its expansion packs) completely free. For years, MekTek.net has been the central point for online distribution of MechWarrior 4 expansion packs. Now they can provide the core game free to the fans as well. Keep an eye on BattleTech.com the free download will be available soon!

clarification:
it was announced on July 09, 2009 that this game and its expansions will be re-released for free. However, according to posts on Mektek.net, Mechwarrior 4 and Mechwarrior 4: Black Knight will NOT be available to download. The download will include at release MechWarrior 4: Mercenaries, Clan and IS Mech Packs unlocked, and MekPak 3.1 from Mektek.net, with MekPak 4.0 arriving at a later date, with a possibility of MechWarrior 4 Vengeance and Black Knight campaigns ported over.
