t appears that ABC made a wise choice when it decided to put its content on Hulu. Total streams on the video site increased 490 percent year-over-year, according to Thursday data from Nielsen.
Hulu recorded 373.3 million video streams in April 2009, up from 63.2 million in April 2008.
Google-owned YouTube was still at the top, with about 5.5 billion streams last month. That is an increase of 35.5 percent from last year.

I'd be interested to see the comparison of streaming time instead of just number of videos. Hulu videos are probably 10x longer on average than youtube's.
Hulu is never gonna catch up though, certainly not while they are U.S only. While I can get around that and stream stuff, average Joe can not. So they will reach saturation within the U.S market, and youtube will continue to grow globally (along with torrent sites for content that is on hulu but not on youtube).
You have to wonder though, how much average revenue does seeing an ad on Hulu fetch?
But you also have to wonder how google will turn a profit on the money sink called you tube.
They won't. Ever. The in-movie ads clearly have not worked. Hulu is a little bit like television; it interrupts the program for a small 15-30 second commercial. YouTube's ads are easily closed and forgotten.
Once Google makes YouTube a subscriber playground, it will lose its billions of hits
Though, I'd pay like $5 a month or something to browse it...Maybe $5 a year, I dunno. Babblebabblerambleramble

I am completely addicted to HULU, I'm in the middle of watching SG:1 season 2 right now and have about 20 other shows subscribed. :D

The fact remains that youtube is an extremely useful tool. There is plenty of junk on there, but it also serves as an online video archive of pretty much everything imaginable.
Marketing works. They are running Ads during primetime TV cant get better marketing then that.
i wouldnt pay to use youtube.yeah i'd LOVE to pay to be able to watch vlogs and anime music videos.
When has google ever been a proponent of pay to play? They're not stupid.
They'll offer some sort of premium service that idiots will sign up for.

Though it would be really cool to force people to subscribe JUST to keep the 8-15 year old vloggers off the Youtubes, and the hippies, and the scene kids...and the emos...
