The long awaited fantasy MMO Warhammer Online has "gone gold" meaning that the game's software is being duplicated into disks and being prepared to ship to stores.

Warhammer Online is due for release on September 18.

No, when a CD or DVD is being manufactured professionally, it is REPLICATED not duplicated.

Duplication
Starting with pre-manufactured blank recordable discs, the data is "burned" onto the discs one by one. If you have a CD or DVD recording drive (burner), you can duplicate discs on your computer. When larger quantities are needed (perhaps 50 - 500), a "duplicator" is used. The data side of a recordable disc usually has a slight color to it, (yellow, green, blue, or purple, depending on the type of media.)

Replication
Starting with a glass master that contains the data for the disc, a metal stamper is formed. The stamper is loaded into a molding machine and molten polycarbonate is injected into the mold thereby manufacturing the disc with the data "stamped" into the disc. The reflective aluminum layer is applied, and the discs are printed with artwork. Normally, the data side of a replicated disc is prismatic shiny aluminum with no color in the plastic like recordable discs have.
