GTA 4 Earns $500 Million

Take-Two Interactive today announced that Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto 4 has done a whopping $500 million in sales since the game's release last week.
Some 6 million copies of the game have been sold worldwide, 3.6 million of those coming in just the first day. Although the numbers exceed industry predictions, Take-Two was confident about selling six million copies before launch.

you're not comparing apples to apples
compare the opening gate to indiana jones or the dark knight. just like the summer movie season has its huge bench marker, so does the gaming industry.
Hopefully it will make its way to the PC, otherwise I won't have the chance to play what appears to be an awesome game.

ironman is a top5 opening weekend movie (2nd most non-sequel or something) i don't understand what you're trying to say. its not 500 million of profit, its 500 million of sales/revenues.

$11 dollars per ticket vs $60 + tax per copy of GTA4
People never seem to factor that in when comparing the two properties.
