Epic Confirms No Unreal Tournament 3 PC-to-PS3 Online

Much ado has been made about the potential presence of cross-platform play in Epic Games' upcoming multiplayer-heavy shooter Unreal Tournament 3 (PC, PS3, X360). The most likely compatible platforms have been PC and PlayStation 3, as the Xbox 360 version has taken a development backseat and the PS3's approach to network architecture is more conducive to the kind of freedom Epic would want for such a service. - www.shacknews.com

More on Unreal Engine Lawsuit

"UE3 isn't perfect by any means, but I don't feel Epic misrepresented it in any way when we licensed it," said Jeffcoat. "It's not that UE3 is the best at any one thing it does, because it's not. It's just better at more of them than anything else, and the ten-plus years of maturity it's been through has yielded a better-than-average art and design pipeline. I've heard plenty of tirades and I've given a few of them myself, but at the end of the day, UE3 helped me get my shit done. And it did a better job than any tool set I'd used before."

Epic Issues Cease-and-Desist To Fan Art

Luke Plunkett of www.kotaku.com writes:
"Remember that adorable, custom Gears Munny Emilio Lopez crafted a few weeks back? We loved it. You loved it, too. It's the cuddliest I've ever seen Marcus Fenix, a dude not renowned for his cuddliness.

Epic don't love it.

They've sent Lopez a cease-and-desist (below). Apparantly making a home-made, one-off, custom figure for your Gears-mad cousin constitutes trademark infringement these days. Overreaction much?"
