A French security guard said Tuesday he had received a faceful of glass when the screen of his iPhone exploded, the second such reported incident in France.

Yassine Bouhadi, a 26-year-old supermarket watchman from the southeastern town of Villevieille, said he was typing a text message on Monday afternoon when the screen exploded.

Bouhadi, who says he was hit in the eye with a glass shard, said he was "very angry" and planned to consult a doctor and file suit for damages.

Blackberry Curve overtakes iPhone sales

Research In Motion Ltd. is throwing Apple Inc. a curveball in the smart phone game: The BlackBerry Curve outsold Apple's iPhone in the first quarter, according to market researchers at The NPD Group.

For one stretch last year, Apple said it sold more iPhones than RIM, the longtime market leader, sold BlackBerrys.

But in the first three months of this year, the Curve benefited from its widespread availability, since it is sold by all four major U.S. wireless carriers, while the iPhone is available only through AT&T Inc. A buy-one-get-one-free promotion by Verizon Wireless also helped the Curve, NPD analyst Ross Rubin said.

The iPhone slipped to No. 2, while RIM's touch-screen BlackBerry Storm also available through Verizon Wireless came in third.

Immediate hopes to see BBC iPlayer content on the iPhone were sundered during last night's Apple shareholder's meeting.

Apple CEO Steve Jobs went on record to warn that the iPhone needs a Flash Player that works like it does on a computer, warning that the Flash Lite Player Adobe develops for mobile phones isn't sufficiently advanced for an iPhone.

A team of computer security consultants say they have found a flaw in Apples wildly popular iPhone that allows them to take control of the device.

The researchers, working for Independent Security Evaluators, a company that tests its clients computer security by hacking it, said that they could take control of iPhones through a WiFi connection or by tricking users into going to a Web site that contains malicious code. The hack, the first reported, allowed them to tap the wealth of personal information the phones contain.

False alarm: iPhone NOT delayed until October, Leopard NOT delayed again until Januar

Submitted by: ScooBySnaCk @ 05:05 PM | Thursday, May 17, 2007 | (url: http://www.engadg...)

An email was "spoofed" to look like it came from Apple talking about the delay of the iphone and the new MAC OS Leopard.

Apparently this was not the case and Apple made a statement today saying:
Subject: NEWS: Disregard Bullet*News Sent May 16 at Approximately 9 a.m. Central--AP/CA/EU/JP/LA/US

You may have received what appeared to be a Bullet*News from Apple. This communication is fake and did not come from Apple.

Apple is on track to ship iPhone in late June and Mac OS X Leopard in October.
