POLICE STATE CAN TAKE YOUR DNA

Submitted by: ZooL @ 03:17 PM | Tuesday, June 4, 2013 | (url: http://www.examin...)

Returning citizens in the DC metro area react to a U.S. Supreme Court ruling released Monday that allows law enforcement to collect DNA samples from anyone arrested and without a search warrant.

Generally, law enforcement is allowed to collect DNA, but only after he/she has been convicted for an offense. Presently, 28 states and the federal government take DNA swabs after arrests. Those justices that agreed with the ruling made clear to stress that this applies to "serious crimes." Also, police have to bring the suspect to the station to be detained in custody.

Judge rules against Occupy Wall Street encampment

Submitted by: motoxbudd @ 04:19 PM | Tuesday, November 15, 2011 | (url: http://hosted.ap....)

NEW YORK (AP) -- A New York judge has upheld the city's dismantling of the Occupy Wall Street encampment, saying that the protesters' first amendment rights don't entitle them to camp out indefinitely in the plaza.

Supreme Court Justice Michael Stallman on Tuesday denied a motion by the demonstrators seeking to be allowed back into the park with their tents and sleeping bags.

Police cleared out the protesters in a nighttime sweep early Tuesday. The judge upheld the city's effective eviction of the protesters after an emergency appeal by the National Lawyers Guild.

The protesters have been camped out in privately owned Zuccotti Park since mid-September. Mayor Michael Bloomberg said he ordered the sweep because health and safety conditions and become "intolerable" in the crowded plaza.

How a BitTorrent Tracker Owner Hides from the MPAA/RIAA

Submitted by: Nail Bomb @ 12:50 AM | Thursday, February 14, 2008 | (url: http://torrentfre...)

Being as anonymous as I can is a must for me and it helps me feel safe. Its probably already past a healthy stage and it does have drawbacks. A few of my staff I love, I really do, theyre great guys but I can never let them know my true identity, which is sad for me because maybe we could become more to each other than just text on a screen. If I thought even one person knew who I was, my confidence in security would fall dramatically.

Being anonymous can be a quite lonely experience as you struggle to keep the very things that make you an individual, private, while constantly having to view people that probably dont deserve it, with suspicion. But in the end you gotta keep the torrents going, so its all good.
