Do you seriously not understand copying a file locally is not the same as across a network?

I'll just throw this here, any way to transfer files p2p without bittorrent or one of these cloud services? Skype used to let you do this but now they steal and spy on your files and so the max is 300megs.

the script is still a network copy (source htpc, destination office pc). It's just being ran from the office pc now instead of the htpc. Each file takes half a second now

You've got to train your wifi to get the most out of it. Lay some bright cable along the floor to show the wifi the best path to go.

So in all seriousness, are you sitting around all day watching 30 second video clips of your backyard for hours and hours?

nope! we leave plants/veggies out and see if they are eaten. If so, merge the clips into a mega clip for easy perusal and then look at what ate it.

Were you trying to run this script from the htpc while it was still recording to the same hard drive you are trying to send from?

obv it's a little busy, what do you think is going to happen

also just hook a motion sensor to your camera and make things easy

i would think that would a 3ghz quad core processor and 8gb ram, the computer can create and copy at the same time. This isn't a 486 but apparently it is.

and i've had several bad experiences with motion sensors. Yes, i'm sure I can buy a great one, but this crappy webcam I already have is free. Thus far, this entire project cost $0 and is recording/backing up just fine

If the camera is writing continuously to the hard drive, while at the same time you are trying to copy a different file from the same physical (mechanical) drive I imagine something has gotta give.

it doesn't matter, its a 30 second vid of something not eating some old vegies

just get some binoculars and take a day off work

you might not know this because you keep talking like my mom but cpu speed and ram have nothing to do with disk or network io and you were probably having some os level issue that will be impossible to debug from the information 8 gig of ram!!!!
