I climb at Aesthetic Climbing Gym near my place down in Lake Forest CA. Working on v3-v5's all around. Thoroughly enjoy it.

climbed at horseshoe this weekend (spent a lot of time on the Titanic Boulder) and did my first lead climb!

after leading, regular top rope climbing feels like going at half speed.

unfortunately my phone decided to act up (it was cold out) so i didnt get any good pics of the routes (other people did) but i got a beautiful snap of the trail:

So I have barely posted here lately, but...

Just received PCIA certification as an indoor climbing instructor.

Pretty sweet.

Did some trad climbing in Red Rocks last weekend. This is looking up at Birdland (560ft 5.7+). First lead on sandstone.

Thanks dude!

So it was a 3 day, 25 hour course/assessment. There was a decent amount of instruction (gear, rescue techniques, teaching) and a ton of assessment (individual climbing/belaying skill as well as creating and teaching multiple lessons on climbing equipment, belay technique, and climbing movement). Since I've been teaching for a number of years now, the instruction part was actually not too bad for me, and the most intense stuff was getting fully up to date on equipment and other technical stuff.

Overall, great experience, and apparently most gyms will hire you on the spot with this cert. I'm planning on teaching beginning clinics at the gym at my university while I finish up my PhD and keep doing it for fun on the weekends after I move on.

This thread needs to come back to life please.

Aside from teaching, I'm also a route setter at my gym now. Pretty sweet.
