She's a cheap ass when it comes to buying things for herself so it's pretty much I buy it and go from there. I showed her around a few shops and she gets sticker shock at prices even when she thinks they are pretty.

She likes the Jamis Sport 2010 Femme. It's like White/Blue I think. If I don't go custom I will probably just pick that up from my shop since they are going to be on discount soon.

the team i race for is sponsored by a bike shop so i get 20-25% off there for personal use, but if im flexible and wait for a surplus it can be even more

k... just not sure about how much I can negotiate. There are 2 LBSs that carry Felt here close to me. I am really considering going with a B16. Either that or i will have to get a different seatpost for my utopia to change the geometry and get aerobars for it.

Mark up on bikes is HUGE. Like easily 50% of MSRP or more in some cases. But most won't give you more than 10%-15% unless they are blowing out old models if you don't have some sort of in.

The bike I bought is retailed at $2400-2900 depending on components and I paid $1300 for it and the guy was still happy and said he didn't take a loss.

Also I think I read somewhere that road/tri bike prices are up like 360% in comparison to others in the 100-200% range since the 80's just because they know people will spend serious scratch on them for racing.

Again if you let me know what kind of size you're looking for I can point you into some good deals since I spent basically the last month looking at bikes in the $2-3k range.

Not for Christmas per se. I only purchased it due to the cheapness that is December sales.

Some Easton EA90 TTs which I got a screaming deal on and that pile of crap has most of the ultegra/dura group mix for my new ride and I have a new fsa crank coming in as well in the next couple of days.

Should have my new bike all built and sexy within the next two weeks and I am jonesing like a ***** to get outdoors for a ride.

Ended up finding an 08 Specialized Dolce Sport Triple for the woman as well for $300. Needs rear derailleur replaced but they cost about nothing on eBay and elsewhere.
