forgot about this stupid thread. that list of wikis on the first page still makes me shudder from the nerdism.

best advice for anyone taking this thread seriously is a throwback meme: you're doing it wrong
 
Decent list in the OP, but I personally would exchange a few, since I can think of some obvious choices that aren't there, and some of what you listed is still mainstream rap to me. (or was when it came out)

B+ list. Not bad.

the list is just an opener.
Please feel free to contribute your sugestions in the form of youtube vid or the like.

My point in the op wasn't mainstream vs underground, but rather people with substance over image.
Both underground and mainstream have artists that get by on each of the traits I mentioned.
