time for some chest and triceps today no cardio done that the past 4 out of 5 days rest is my favorite part i am good at being lazy

i have a goal of sub 3:30 for a marathon eventually but for my first i'd like to do sub 4

So i have a riding buddy who has qualified for boston 3 years in a row at sub 3:15's.... He's a good irder but he rides hard maybe once a week and runs the rest of the time. I can ride him into the ground consistently on a 20 mile ride or a 100 mile ride, but I can't run more than 4-5 miles without my heart exploding

is it my technique? I feel like I have a lot of aerobic ability and my legs never hurt when i run, my heart rate just goes up up up the faster I go and after 4-5 miles I feel totally drained of energy

running isn't really a strong interest of mine, I'm just curious if I need to do it more or if it's possible to be good at one endurance sport and bad at another

you may have slightly poor form but it sounds more like you just arent used to running longer distances

it takes awhile to build up the leg strength/endurance and the cardio capacity to run distance

you could up your distance by doing a long run once a week (start with 5, go to 5.5 or 6 the next week, and gradually increase your mileage)

1)db Military presses drop setted with arnold presses x 4 sets
2)cable side laterals super setted with 1 min jump rope x 3 sets
3)db front lateral raises super setted with side lateral raises super setted with rear lateral raises x 3 sets
4) seated bb military press super setted with upright rows x 3 sets
5) bb shrugs x 3 sets
6) db shrugs x 3 sets

cardio
30min Intervals on stairs

15 minutes for as many rounds possible:

3 overhead any way 75% bodyweight
6 push ups
9 full glute ham raises

it sucked

Back/Bi

4x deadlifts (warmup then 12-10-8-6)
4x weighted pullups (diff. grips, 8x per)
4x bent over rows (12-10-8-6)
3x wide grip pulldown
2x close grip pulldown
--------------------
Bi's were doing ok at this point, finished up with
2x barbell curl (8,6)
2x (overhand grip) barbell curl (6,6)
2x hammer curls til death.
(only 30-45 secs rest in between sets)
ended the day with some abs.
Cardio @ night when its cooler.

I did some looking and apparently Daris did run a legit 21:43 5k at some point recently, though the TBL one was not actually 5k. I can believe his 4:02, but he's still a fatass and I must beat him.

hooray chest day #2 man I'm hurting, losing strength...I think I'm not eating enough protein I've not had any meat at all this week...bleh

3x10 cable flies prone
3x10 cable flies/lifts I dunno what they are called
incline, decline and prone dumbbell flies

all the while doing the usual ab stuff in between

10 on the elliptical to warm up, 40 to cardio after weights

It's more likely just a matter of what you're used to. I know a few triathalon people who weren't good runners before switching over to just doing 5k/10k stuff, but they already had a strong aerobic fitness, so it only took about a month for them to adjust and get their times down. It would probably be similar for you.

scratched the 5 miler

went for a VFF run (1.5 miles with some sprints for good measure) and now ive got a blister on each big toe. this seems like all part of the process so im not sweating it

I have never been to much of a runner unless i had a beer hanging in front of me or something haha.
