Newegg ships 5 fake CPUs
Another few people with the same problem:

We had an order of Corei7 920s come in recently. 5 of the CPUs we received wound up being fake.
The box was fake. Instead of had "security sealed" tape, it had "security sealed" printed on the box with clear tape on it. The sparkly silver Intel sticker was a generic sparkly silver sticker with the words
Intel pressed into it.
Upon opening up the box, I realized the plastic inside was fake as it was much more lightweight and flimsy than usual.
The manual was a stack of blank pages stapled together.
The heatsink was a block of heatsink shaped epoxy with a sticker on top that made it look like a fan.
The CPU was a layer of solder on a single layer PCB with a fake heatspreader on top. There was a grey sticker with the normal Corei7 writing on it.
It was pretty cool looking until I realized this means *****ing at newegg for a replacement and scrounging around for 5 additional CPUs to account for the shortage.
I wonder how this all came to be...
