im glad the comet lander had it's own thread, but now that thread is gone and disappeared and no one seems to give a **** about what actually happened
the lander hit the comet and bounced a KM into space, landed again, bounced again, and finally landed in the shadow of a cliff, one leg in the air, with barely any sunlight hitting it.
they werent sure if it could even drill, but figured out it could.
they somehow repositioned the thing to get a bit more sun to keep operations going thru Friday evening
it drilled, and completed it's first science sequence phase totally, then sent the data to earth, then shut down due to lack of power
it hit it's mark straight on but the lack of harpoons ****ed it up
even so they got a lot of good science out of the probe after ten years in space. and it may turn back on if the sun ever hits it better

im sad cuz it was supposed to be there for months, sending back data on the state of the comet as the sun burns it up
