COD4 - Best SP FPS ever

Anti-Lyfe

Veteran X
Anyone disagree? Why?

I just beat it. Wow.

I must say 2560x1600 resolution and everything maxed out made it a much better experience, but the game design on every level is superb. Even the story and character buildup was solid.

I can't think of any better FPS than this, holllarrr

(I wonder how Crysis SP will compare to this)

It's fun but I'm playing through it on the 3rd of 4 difficulty level and the AI is retarded. The enemy doesn't fight any better instead I just get grenades landing at my feet if I stop moving for a fraction of a second. I agree though the SP is a ton of fun, the story is cool (the nuke, wow), the cut scene/story moments are done really well and your squad is nearly beleivable. The grenade factor of the game is killing it for me though, it's nearly not fun to play.

that res must have worked great with your chinky eyes, AL

HelenKeller = poor backwards cracker (sucks to be you)

I also played it on the 3rd difficulty. End of sniper level and the airstrike level took me awhile to do. I can't imagine having that much fun without the mouse/keyboard...

Agreed.

It's like a Clancy movie on steroids told in badass FPS action.

It was awesome on my 360 widescreen in 720p, I couldn't imagine playing it any other way, unless maybe on PS2.

I need to get a 1080p :( Is there really a lot of difference between 720p and 1080p?

you're kidding, yes?

the AC130 level was awesomeness, but overall, the whole 'make it hard by spawning infinite troops' just sucks sweaty festering diseased lemur testicles. It's a horrible, unimaginative tool that artificially restricts your gameplay choices, and I hate seeing it used.

Hmm, interesting.

When I use my VGA cable for the X360 the brightness is a little duller but there are less jaggies on screen. 1080p on VGA is better than 720p on component. But there wasn't any difference on 720p and 1080i on component.

I stand by the COD4 as best FPS SP ever but you gotta be playing it on PC and on maxed out graphics. I can't imagine scrolling through enemies on a controller for this game and not being able to do full 360 views quicky just to scan the environment (when you're on the trucks driving on the highway).

Just went back and beat hte game, I was on the last little part and didn't know it. I like how after the credits you have a VIP on an airplane rescue, that was more fun than alot of missions in the game.

I disagree. It was not a good game and it will be forgotten in a couple of weeks. The cinematics were great but overall playability is very poor.

The AC-130 level is great and I'd probably buy a game based on that alone, lol. The nuke level was shocking as well and is one of the greatest scenes in gaming history.

But overall, the game was your typical WWII shooter in a modern world with respawning enemies who have unlimited grenades 'balls to the wall' tactics and other shit thrown in.

I mean...... LET ME RUN THROUGH A HAIL OF GUNFIRE AND GRENADES JUST SO I CAN TRIP AN INVISIBLE POINT SO WE CAN MOVE ON AND DO THE SAME THING AGAIN!

It sounds like some people just don't want to accept that it is what it is  It just so happens to be the most badass at what it is.

the game is very good at what it does, but it honestly doesn't do much and certainly does not evolve the genre, in fact it devolves certain aspects.

But thats ok, people go crazy for the basics and the multiplayer is the main deal anyway.

I really disagree about the multi-player as I can play much better multi-player FPS games, namely on PC, not 360. :)

It is however the best multi-player FPS experience on 360 currently.

Ummm...what do you expect in a FPS? You're supposed to keep killing enemies, shit is negligible. You think GOW sucks too cause enemies keep coming at you?

What I really liked was that in each level there was something special/different about it. One time you're in a AC-130, next thing you're escorting a tank, then you're in a sniper suit, then you're in a helicopter, etc.

I felt they coulda did a whole game on each level type but they really diversified it and put it all into one. I'm beginning to sound like a nerd but shiet, this game was so goot. It was like a movie.

i disagree. the SP is like GRAW on crack. sure it can be fun to shoot 20 targets that pop up randomly around the screen, but not when they can kill you in .1 or .2 seconds. enjoying crawling around sniping dummy AI spawning is worse (and more boring) than cmaping

You just stated why it won't be forgotten in a couple of weeks
