Rather than ship a system that isn't fully working and isn't as flexible as we'd like, we're delaying the ability to associate yourself with an "official" team and team tag. In the open beta you can see this feature at the bottom of your profile screen. In the released version of the game this area will be greyed out.
Apologies to anyone who was really looking forward to this feature. I hope you agree that disabling this feature will be better than shipping a system that doesn't fully work and doesn't let you do what you want to do. The current plan, if given the opportunity, is to implement it properly in a future update,

Probably a good decision. Better to delay the feature than release it buggy.

Gah... ah well. It's not a Tribes game without a "future feature update" at release.
As long as it works as advertized (and people can get the right tags and such) I've got no problems with waiting a little bit.

Is there going to be an identity system in T:V like in T2 whereby only 1 person can register a given name? Cos that would mean everyone would initially register their name with a tag (eg., <AvA>Epidemic), then when the in-game system was fixed there would be some weird names (eg., <AvA><AvA>Epidemic) :P

wait, so by delay you mean it will be in a later patch? thats fine with me
i really like the feature and hope it makes it into the game but if it doesn't, no biggie

no you can play as any name you want. There can be 20 AVA epidemics if they wanted to. (not like T2)

The system in its current state would have turned off many people so I am glad you guys will have it disabled.

Good choice.
Its no problem to use tags in nicknames, and hopefully you implement a DECENT tag system (coloured tags like in T2, team listing, proper GUI to manage your team etc).
It would be ideal to have its own tab 'Team Management' where you can see your own team and provide some other details, it would be worth it.
Just make sure to indicate in release that the grey area is 'coming soon' and people dont have it disabled by some option etc

good choice.....i assume its not broken and it has somethign to do with sharing a database with all the other gamespy teams.....if that is the case, i really dont know what gamespy were thinking there.
I'm curious though about the "if given opportunity"....does that mean if t:v sells well?

Me no wanting flimsy T2 browser problems, no ship broken stuff. Good policy me say. Not needing any Tribes Tags in Tribes right away so no worry.
You have thanks for staying us updated.

And until we get the system, we can always put tags in our names... Multiple profiles.

Sounds good to me. Not like this is a terribly necessary feature anyway.

Partially correct. Gamespy doesn't have (yet, they're close) a clan system. We hacked one together using their global name space. They've got millions of registered names in there already, so getting your clan tag thru would be next to impossible. VU is getting a global name space for all VU games, we'll switch to that as soon as it's available (hopefully we'll be the first into the space and we'll all get our names and clan tags as we want them). If Gamespy implements their clan system in the mean time, we have the option to implement that if it seems worth it.
