well, I heard that if you workout 3 times a week it is more effective, but by working 6 times a week i get to work each major group of muscle twice.
my schedule is pretty much
monday: arms and chest
tuesday: back and shoulders
wednesday: legs
thursday: arms and chest
friday: back and shoulders
saturday: legs
sunday: rest
i dont do any cardio just because i am thin as it is, and the fat i got looks like muscle anyways, so its all good.
wadda ya think? should i tune it down or keep it running?

unless you are using something for recovery..i'd say you need 1 more day of rest in there at least. lifting too much is just as bad if not worse as lifting not enough

I think you could really improve your split. Working the same muscle groups two times a week really isn't necessary unless you've got lagging muscles.
Here's my split:
Day 1: Chest/Shoulders/Triceps/Abs
Day 2: Cardio
Day 3: Quads/Hams/Calves/Abs
Day 4: Cardio
Day 5: Back/Biceps/Forearms/Abs
Day 6: Cardio
Day 7: Rest
Give it a try, and if you've got any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

It depends on how many work sets per bodypart you are doing. But, since I imagine you are doing many, and aren't taking steroids or pro-hormones, no, that routine will not be very fruitful for more than a couple of weeks.
Volume and intensity don't mix well; pick one or the other. If you lift light on both days that's fine, but if you go balls to the wall every training session you'll get sick very fast since your CNS will not have adequate rest. Your progress will halt and you'll probably start losing mass, as well.
The program looks fine, if it was only 3 days per week. If you want to go 5 days, do a seperate bodypart every day and do not double up on muscle groups.

well its true rave, but i got weak arms and weak legs, and i get tired really quickly in my workouts, i just figured giving them 3 days to rest is fine.
i really dont need cardio since i am 140 pounds 5'11" so losing fat is not a big concern for me so far... i am bulking up too and i dont want to slow it down until i start cutting the weight.
so basically my options are either upper rest lower rest upper rest rest or the 6 days workout :\
i know the cardio is more healthy but for now im just going about size.

Cardio is not necessarily only for cutting. If you do some cardio once or twice a week, even on a bulk -- it's good for you.
As for resting, why not try something like:
Quote:
Day 1: Chest/Shoulders/Triceps/Abs
Day 2: Rest
Day 3: Quads/Hams/Calves/Abs
Day 4: Cardio
Day 5: Back/Biceps/Forearms/Abs
Day 6: Rest
Day 7: Rest

This way you're 4 days on, 3 days off.
Giving your muscles time to heal is crucial, and you if you're not taking one already, consider a multi-vitamin. I take a multi-vitamin, along with Vitamin C, and protein (1g per pound body weight) daily. Drink plenty of water too! Most people go with .55 x your body weight = #oz. water daily, but I'd shoot for .66 x your body weight.

I beg to differ.
Abs should be treated just like any other muscle in your body, and should be given time to heal. Abs should be done at most, 3x a week. I personally do them on my workout days, as opposed to days on which I do cardio.
Overworking your abs is definitely not a good idea, and it really won't do anything in terms of strengthening them if they have not healed from the previous workout.

I used to do running on all of my workout days, but have found through experience that it's generally a good idea to seperate running days from workout days. I've seen better gains this way, but different people have different goals. On a cut, you definitely want to do more cardio -- but remember that getting in shape is more diet than working out. I'd suggest that it's something like 70% diet and 30% exercise.

strength wise i guess you are right but to define the stomach area i think it might work as good as if not better.
not so sure about it rave... my roomate is a living proof... he works the **** out of his abs daily and he's pretty ripped...

Ripped abs have nothing to do with the amount of ab exercises you do... just 'fyi'
One day a week is enough for abs. They are like any other muscle group, and as such, should be worked intensely using weights. You wouldn't do 300 pushups 3 days a week to work your chest and arms would you?
