i've already listened to:
• a song of ice and fire
• wheel of time
• lazarus project
• mistborn trilogy
• malazan books by steven ericksen

mistborn was a little weak on characters, but i liked the others prett well
The Lost Fleet series was good

Also listening to the emberverse series now, its pretty good.

double post zomg

I need a new book

I've been crushing series lately
just finished the first law triology
did all the mistborn books before that
The Magician and by a kindle loading misadventure The magicians
Read Way of Kings
The way of shadows
Codex Alera
I'm all caught up on SoIaF, Dresden, King Killer

I feel like I've had to force myself to push through Malazan the The Black Company, Black Company is great when you get to be with Croaker and the Lady but the last book of the South has me less inclined to follow up with the balance. Malazan is just a bit too scattered with huge lows then huge highs, the pace just doesn't seem to pull me in.

Read "The Passage" yet? Its long as hell, and pretty great. The Twelve is its sequel.

I will have to check it out, will let you know what i think

Vance, our lists are pretty close give or take a few. You may like The First Law trilogy if you haven't read it. It really tugs you through and some of the characters are great. Pretty formulaic and no big pay off at the end though.

I'm not seeing First Law trilogy + stand alones in there, Vance.

Also, "The Expanse" series (2 books in so far) by James Corey is pretty good. "Realistic" scifi, in that its all in our solar system, speed is dependent on how many Gs a crew can deal with, etc. No FTL.

Vance Reamde is a good Stephenson.book, give that a go, and Needful Things by Stephen King is one of my faves too ;d

also agree re first law books they're pretty solid

I just finished the two Gentleman Bastard books and am now nearly done with Ready Player One, all good stuff

Edit - also check out Killing Floor or One Shot to find out who Jack Reacher is as referenced in Under the Dome

Just finished Liebowitz and it is pretty good. I sort of hoped for it to continue the first part of the story but it jumps ahead in time. Still turned out not too badly.

Reading Farenheit 451 now.

The problem I always have with older scifi is how they get a lot of things right but so many things wrong. Like 'dialling' a phone or using a tape cassette while on a spaceship or people poking around with wiring and electrical contactors inside computers. That **** just don't happen and it sort of kills them for me.
