As far as masks, studies show that unless your mask is a perfect fit, the infection rate (with vs without mask) is the same anyway.

The mask is more to keep your hands off your face. You'd be surprised how many times a day you touch your face (scratch your nose, rub your eye, touch your mouth, etc.). Wearing a mask usually helps to constantly remind the user to keep washing as well.
