Jahoda Duck broke my computer {Tech Experts}

My buddy's comp had similar symptoms. Fans turn on but no POST beeps. Constant restarting after 2 secs. The problem ended up being that somehow the CPU socket on the mobo got fucked up (bent/shorted pins) so I replaced the mobo and then it worked fine.

try replacing your CMOS battery before anything, then check for blown capacitors on the motherboard (or bulging), Alot of times ppl mistake a dead CMOS batter for a dead motherboard, if you dont hear any beeps its more then likely the Motherboard then the CPU,

The I7-2500k is a really really nice CPU and its upgrade over your current will astound you, in any chance your mobo/cpu is still good i would still advise you to upgrade anyways, some great games coming out soon

1st off find a Micro Center near you (hopefully there is one) since they have the best pricing for just about everything.

If you are looking at the Sabertooth motherboard (very good choice by the way) the processor that is compatible with it is the Socket 1366.

Micro Center - Intel Core i7-960 3.2GHz LGA 1366 Boxed Processor 269589

Also that mobo is triple channel memory. Your memory works in pairs. This new one works in triplets so you would be getting 3 sticks of ram. 6 gigs or 12 gigs are your 2 choices. (Three 2 gig sticks or three 4 gig sticks) 6 gigs is a very good starting point and you more then likely will never need more then that but if you do want more there will be 3 empty slots so u can.

Micro Center - Corsair XMS3 6GB DDR3-1600 (PC3-12800) CL9 Triple Chanel Desktop Memory Kit (Three 2GB Memory Modules) CMX6GX3M3A1600C

Everything else of yours will more the likely just plug on in.

The 1155 has dual cahnnel memory as opposed to triple channel and they have built in graphics. Thats it.

1366 is still the top of the line socket series. If you are running a standalone graphics card then the 1155 is pointless.

My mobo was having post problems and ended up needing a new battery. Maybe check the battery before splurging on a new mobo.
