Stupid topic of conversations but I'll bite anyway.

the bf% everyone seems to be fixated in is highly individual, as it is healthy to have some amount of fat covering your intestines. This could be 5% of their weight for someone and 1% for someone else. Which by any measurement causes a lot of variations in looks and bf%. If you just measure your body fat from the skin (with pinchers) then the measurement is not affected by the fat around your intestines, and the bf% is much smaller than it really is...

Anyways it is silly to be fixated on a number, when you have many better factors to determine if you're thin enough...

I think that generally under 10% you'd have the full 6 pack. I am definitely over 10 but have like the 4 pack + obliques etc. I don't really care about it at this point though, its January.

I wouldn't think 'organ fat' would fluctuate much at all. Muscle mass and natural body composition would probably make it insignificant. For example, if I'm 200 lbs at 10% body fat and I gain 20lbs of muscle while not gaining any fat(or losing any fat) my body fat percentage has gone down about a percentage point. At the same time, if I'm 5ft at 10% body fat and the guy next to me is 6'5 at 10% body fat he's probably looking quite a bit better than me.

Shrug. I didn't mean to start a debate. Just find it hard pressed to find a better method of tracking fat loss than BF percent.

And yeah, as phantred pointed out, you obviously aren't just looking at the percent number.

Ok, so I went and did a bodpod thing. They did three tests at 40 seconds each and it told me my body fat percent was 5.2%

Basically I need to start putting on weight. And grats on being right belial.

I guess what is not shown are my legs which are not small and have 0 fat on them. Thank god for being raised playing soccer. Big calves with no work.

were you measured shortly after eating or exercising?

i never would have guessed that low, but assuming you didn't do either of the above, that's about as accurate of a reading as you'll ever get

Holy **** 5.2% is insane. What was your diet? I just started cutting. I'm sticking around 2,000 calories and under 50g carbs a day. I just recently finished bulking, wherein for me bulking is getting to 190 (my usual weight is 175). ****. 5.2.

Gained 10 pounds over the winter, wishing I had done a body builder type routine instead of starting strength again.

Oh well, back to a summer of endurance training:/

Yeah, I'm not unhappy with it, can't hope for much in 3 months, 90% of my work is back and hamstring stuff.
