also, direct tv dvr hard drives work nice once you unlock them. gparted and hdat2 (6.4 lite)

Yep, and there seems to be a never ending supply of direct tv boxes left in our mini storage. The fancier dvr boxes have hard drives in them, but you have to unlock PUIS.
