) Zero Wing intro goes up on Zany Video Game Quotes.
2) Overclocked.org does the Zero Wing dub. (June/July)
3) Somebody (or somebodies) on SA uses the Zero Wing image in their sig. It also pops up with some frequency in various threads.
4) Links are made to the dub.
5) A thread goes up saying simply, "ALL YUOR BASE ARE BELONG TO US!!". (November)
6) In the thread, a picture of Alf on the phone with a speech bubble saying "All your base are belong to us" (actually posted a few days earlier in another thread) goes up. The rampant photoshopping begins.
7) Word of the thread begins to spread once it hits 10 pages or so. AYBABTU shows up on various pages. HardOCP links to the thread.
8) The thread is deleted by a '1337 hax0r' who accidentally got moderator status for a short time. It gets up to over 30 pages (anybody remember how many), then suddenly the last two or three vanish and no more posts are accepted (it wasn't locked, just broken).
9) SA regulars, and those who saw it there, begin posting AYBABTU on various 3D game boards. (Tribal War's is mid-December)One thread on a UT board gets Bad_CRC's attention who makes this thread.
10) JRR releases "Invasion of the Gabber Robots." (Date?)
11) Bad_CRC makes the Flash movie/video. (February)
12) A FAQ is posted on GameFaqs.com, which includes a better translation from the original material. While less funny, we now know what the hell they were talking about.
