Can't wait to see how long this takes to implement... and how the tech companies respond. Twitter would almost have to just ban links entirely. YouTube, good luck.

As soon as the article passed, the copyright bots began crawling the web looking to make frivolous copyright claims against content creators.

Watch youtube implode with channels being suspended by false claims. It's already started.

From the very first time I heard this being mentioned, I knew immediately it would pass, probably near unanimously. EU is packed with kikes and they always vote for more governmental power.

Nothing new.

Almost everyone votes for more governmental power. Every group.

Individuals that oppose governmental power is earned through people that read/learn history. That's it. We (the people that oppose) are at a severe disadvantage because it's not the default will of the people.

but how does this stop mean people from offending our migrant guests which cause them to shoot up concert halls and drive dump trucks on sidewalks?

Unless you have the cash and permission to link sources it effectively shuts down any discussion about it.

While this is a giant ****show, im really not TOO worried about it (at this moment). In its current form, its basically unenforceable.

It comes into effect 2021.
guess there will be appeals before that, but if not will have to see how the big internet platforms react.

i don't entirely get what changes.

previously if i uploaded an episode of seinfeld to youtube, it would go up and maybe a few months later a bot would place a copyright claim on it and block viewing. no one gets in trouble. at that point i can contest the claim and the video goes back up til a human being reviews it and sees it is obvious infringement and blocks it again and puts a strike on my account. if the human being makes the wrong call, nbc or whoever owns the rights to seinfeld can then sue me, but not youtube. youtube is only liable if they refuse to take down the video, and their current policy is to automatically acquiesce to all copyright claims, so as to never hold liability. bogus copyright claims are already common and used strategically by bigtime youtubers like joke paul to deprive competing channels of first-day revenue.

can someone articulate how this process changes under the new legislation (assuming youtube is even affected, being a us corporation)? the bot check comes before viewability? it doesn't sound like it bans fair use, that's the whole "meme exception".
