What I find interesting is I agree with most everyone here that Scientology and Mormonism just seem more whack-job.
But if I was really someone with consistency I ought to see them all the same. I can't, though. I'm assuming it's the cultural weight behind the major religions.

As soon as "what others believe" stops ****ting on the rest of the population via legislation and policy, I'll stop caring about the ludicrous **** people believe in.

Is typing 14 words (plus thread title) really that much trouble?

bhuddism, taoism should be listed near atheist. and atheist shouldnt even be listed.
depends on the bhuddism though, some folks have gotten a little crazy about it like treating the bhudda as divine when he preached against this very thing lol

Honestly there's probably some familiarity bias going on. Without explicitly going through each one's doctrine and listing all the bull****, we might be way off.

yeah, i forgot that your side is always in the right with making legislation and policy.

you mean like legislating where you can and can't pray, policies that require teachings contrary to many religious beliefs in schools
the religion was there before the school systems wasn't it?

Bhuddism contains quite a bit of imaginary nonsense. The *believers* are generally far less crazy and not annoying at all, but the actual belief is still crazy.

The side that actually aligns with reality is indeed the right one. Thanks for noticing.

Well since you're usually decent enough to answer questions, sure.
The answer is I'm not looking to **** on anyone, I'm just interested in what people think (and also why I happen to think certain things).
As Pessimistick said above, familiarity bias is a likely explanation.

When Buddhism hit Japan it was generally considered too pessimistic to appeal so the idea of the Western Paradise was invented as a kind of Buddhist Heaven, where you would go to achieve Nirvana.
So way before Scientology and Mormonism came along, religions were happy to change doctrine to appeal to new markets.

if that were so then historically the white races during the prime of christianity wouldnt have treated nigs as inferiors. this whole liberal everyone is equal bs began with britain and spread into the US with the south representing the original christians. the atheist component is just the same ignorance sans religion.
