many of them do. I cant remember the name of the group in europe that uses live steel, but they are the guys that they go to when they need people for history channel specials or movies like braveheart

You already stated you were 100+ lbs heavier than the picture everyone has seen of you, stress, crappy diet of a community college student, no doubt a bout of depression after various things happened the last couple years. probably started packing that weight back on.
