Saferdriver. Is this just a Dubai phenomenon?

I'm sure they must do this at least in big cities in the US and A, but just checking.

You go to the bar straight from work and get rather wankered. You could get a cab but then you have to find your car tomorrow with a hangover, and best case that will suck balls, worse case you can't remember where you left it.

So. You call saferdriver and they collect you and your car and take you both home. Next morning you wake up with a mouth like a wino's asshole but at least your car is outside on the driveway. And for about 50% more than the cost of a regular cab.

What's not to like?
 
Best to drive home, park your car and then uber there and back but, nothing wrong with having someone drive your car home for you.

It's the leading excuse for DUI's. "I didn't want to leave my car there and have to get it the next day."
 
i don't work with degenerate alcoholics who can't stand the looks of scorn and misery on their family's faces so i couldn't really say

You never go for a drink straight after work? I don't do it often but this service is great when I do. From work to bar is 5 miles, to take my car home and then go to bar and back is 40. So this is more convenient and cheaper. I guess if your work, home and bar are close together then less of an issue. Even better if all of the are in the same trailer.

I think this 'safe driver' thing in Dubai is a sting operation. They are going to continue to run it for a while until they get the addresses of all the people that use it and then once they have a good database, arrest everyone for drinking alcohol in a dry state.
