Right now I just use a my own personal CMS to update my web site. I'm looking to switch to something that's a bit easier and has more features I want built in. I tried to install Wordpress today but I'm already running into problems (can't log in, once im logged in it says my db needs updated, etc). I just would like to hear from someone that has used one or the other.

I've been using Movable Type for my site for quite awhile now. No real problems with it. Then again, I'm just using the basic aspects of it. I thought of migrating to Wordpress since so many people praise it, but I just couldn't be bothered to spend the time to do it.

Wordpress seems cool but I just dont get some of the problem I'm having with it. The install went smoothly, I go to the login page, enter my details and when I click login it tries to download the wp-login.php file. My entire site is in php and its enabled for my entire site folder so I don't get that at all.

I was able to login at work (who knows why) and when I tried to add a new post or use any of the other features it just goes to a page that says i need to update my db. I click the links to update the db, it goes through some steps but it doesnt seem to do anything as the same error keeps coming up.

It seems like a nice program but It hasn't been very easy to get started so far.

We use movable type for Gizmodo and have run into a lot of speed problems. But then again Gizmodo probably gets more hits than your site does.

I've definitely had experience with both and I can tell you that I prefer Wordpress 100 times more.

Not to mention that Six Apart is a traitor to the community.

I'm going to agree with the majority here, Wordpress is the better of the two. Have you ever looked into Joomla?

I like Mambo/Joomla a lot, but I dunno if I would like to keep using it for long with the errors I keep running into security wise
